Strange But True! Russian Chickens Eat Basins Russian farmer, Vladimir Smitlev, claims he has the toughest and tastiest eggs in the whole of Russia. Why? Because he feeds them on old washbasins and lavatory bowls crushed into powder which he mixes with chicken feed. Calcium in the ceramics ensures high-quality eggs at low cost, he says. It takes the hens six weeks to eat a basin and they can manage a lavatory in about three months. |
