Fat dog is given back to owner

A DOG taken away from its pensioner owner because it was too fat was sent back home after a council admitted it had no right to seize the cross-bred collie.

Spike weighed 55lb instead of a fit 34lb, but Hart district council (UK) agreed that it should have been a police matter.

His owner, Cyril Sumpter, 70, of Hook, Hants, has now promised to help his pet lose weight.
